Our workshops enhance parenting skills and enrich family life.  A broad range of basic parenting and positive communication skills can be adapted to the value system and culture of each individual family.

General Registration Information

  • To register for workshops, please call us at 519-434-3644 x10 or register online here.
  • Please notice when workshops are being noticed for only men or only women.
  • When childminding is available, it is for fully walking children only and spaces are limited.
  • An email confirmation will be sent if a valid email address is provided.
  • A waiting list will be maintained for workshops that are full.  To be placed on the list, call 519-434-3644 x10.
  • Please advise us if you are unable to attend or if you've requested childminding and no longer need it.

We also offer a free 4-week series of classes for first-time moms with a baby 0-6 months of age in partnership with the Middlesex-London Health Unit called Just Beginning.  Click here for times, dates, and locations for the Just Beginning program.  To register for a Just Beginning program, please call the Health Unit at 519-663-5317 ext. 2378.

Learning opportunities can be developed for specific groups with a unique focus. 

Childminding, interpretation and translation services are often provided.

Courses for parents and caregivers of children 0 to 12 years include:

Bullying: What Parents Can Do - Bullying impacts families!  This workshop focuses on the causes and effects of bullying.  Characteristics of both the bully and the victim will be discussed as well as strategies for providing support.

How Can I Get My Child To Sleep - This session will help put to rest some popular myths about kids and sleep and participans will learn bedtime strategies.

How To Talk So Kids Will Listen - This six session course will help participants learn effective ways to engage co-operation and find alternatives to punishment.

Positive Mealtimes - Keeping children fed and healthy can be a difficult task.  Participants connect to talk about nutrition, routines, and the fussy eater.

Raising Your Spirited Child - This six session course will help parents and caregivers understand, enjoy, and guide those children who may be intense, sensitive, persistent, and energetic.

Ready for Kindergarten - This four session interactive course gives participants information about how to help a child develop learning readiness skills for school.

Responding to Power Struggles - A three session course that focuses on understanding and preventing power struggles from occurring between parent and child.  Learn techniques that help adults unlock form battles and respond to angry feelings with support and guidance.

Safety - This workshop provides information about safety in the car and discussion on engaging children's co-operation when using child restraint systems.

Setting Limits - This practical two session course will help participants look at how to establish rules and boundaries with children while maintaining a loving relationship.

Toilet Training Basics - Learn when and how to start toilet training with toddlers and preschoolers and help them confidently master this development.  Participants will share lots of tips and ideas.

In addition to these courses, Childreach collaborates with other community service providers to offer unique programs and supports to special populations in London and area.  For example:

  • Childreach offers unique supports and services for young parents and their children - a Young Moms group is held weekly.
  • Our Parent Education and Community Early Years staff partner with other agencies and community groups to provide a multidisciplinary team approach to serving at-risk populations.
  • Some of these courses are offered for parents of children 0 to 6 as Ontario Early Years Centre programs.
