Volunteer

There are many volunteer opportunities at Childreach. Most require a commitment of 3 hours per week. All volunteers receive an orientation, training and ongoing support.

Early Years Program Assistant – Some of the responsibilities for a playroom volunteer may include planning and preparing art activities for the children, reading a child a story or supervised monitoring of children in the playroom.

Resource Lending Assistant – The Childreach toy lending library allows parents and caregivers to select, and sign out a variety of toys which they may take home on loan. Volunteers in the toy library offer assistance to the toy lending librarian in the processing of toys, books, videos and other resources.

Public Education Assistant – Work in cooperation with Childreach staff to liaise with local community groups, families, schools, daycares, and businesses to promote Childreach programs, workshops, and volunteer opportunities. Volunteers may offer assistance at public speaking events or set up of displays at fairs or in the community.

ECE Resource Centre Volunteer – Our Resource Centre provides support to formal and informal child care providers. Areas volunteers may assist in, could include our resource library, our workroom, on the computer, or at our reception desk.

Community Programs Assistant – The responsibilities for a Community Programs volunteer are similar to that of a Playroom volunteer (see above). However, these responsibilities would be carried out at a site of your choice selected from our various community locations.

Volunteer Services Assistant – Volunteers in this role will offer support and assistance to the Volunteer Coordinator and other staff with a variety of tasks and projects such as set up and facilitation at volunteer meetings, assistance with production of newsletters, and general administrative duties.

Special Events and Fundraising Volunteer – Assist Childreach staff at special events in the community and at the Childreach main site.

Childminding Assistant – Childcare is offered for some of our Childreach parenting classes. Volunteers in this role offer assistance to staff in the care of children while parents attend on-site classes.

Administrative Volunteer – Assist the administrative team with much needed and important organizational and clerical tasks. These tasks could include photocopying, answering the telephone, greeting people and assisting with large mailings.

Outdoor Gardening Volunteer – Gardening volunteers would offer assistance with the upkeep of the gardens surrounding our Childreach facility.
