The privacy of volunteers, donors, users of this website and all others with whom we interact is very important to the Childreach organization. Childreach respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. Personal information means information about an identifiable individual as more particularly described by applicable privacy laws. This policy explains our policies and practices regarding the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information by Childreach. This policy does not apply to information about our employees or information that is not personal information.

Information We Collect

Childreach and its agents and representatives may collect personal information from you in person when you attend a Childreach hosted event, when you submit an online registration form (e.g. to subscribe to our newsletter), send us an e-mail message, call us by phone or send us postal mail. All personal information is kept strictly confidential and Childreach takes reasonable steps to protect your personal information using physical, electronic and operational security methods. Authorized employees, agents and mandataries of Childreach who require access to your personal information in order to fulfill their job requirements will have access to your personal information.

The amount and type of personal information Childreach may collect varies depending on the nature of your relationship with us and may include:

  • Your name, your child(ren)’s name, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address and other contact information;

  • Financial information necessary to process a donation or purchase, such as your credit or debit card number or banking information; and

  • Such other information we may collect with your consent or as permitted or required by law.

Childreach may use your personal information in connection with its activities and programs including to:

  • Fulfill your requests, for example, to process a donation or to provide you with products or information that you request;

  • Manage, administer and otherwise carry out our educational programs including coordinating volunteers;

  • Keep you informed of Childreach program activities and events, unless you ask us not to. If at any time you no longer wish to receive such information, please contact us at the phone number or e-mail listed above;

  • Otherwise with your consent or as permitted or required by law.

You will be given the opportunity to opt-out of having your personal information used for any purpose related to Childreach activity at the time your information is collected.

Childreach may disclose your personal information in the following circumstances:

  • To fulfill your requests, for example, to a credit card issuer for the purposes of processing a donation made by credit card;

  • As necessary to meet legal and regulatory requirements; and

  • Otherwise with your consent or as permitted or required by law, including as required by applicable Canadian and foreign laws applicable to Childreach or its service providers.

Childreach may transfer your personal information to third parties who perform services on our behalf (for example, data storage and hosting or mailing houses). Some of these service providers are located outside of Canada, including in the United States. Personal information transferred to these service providers will be subject to the laws of the foreign jurisdiction where they are located, including lawful requirements to disclose personal information to government authorities in those countries.

Even if a third party is associated with Childreach through a business relationship or otherwise, Childreach is not responsible for the privacy policies, practices or content of such third party websites.
